We’re delighted to share our innovative “Everyday Zootherapy” project with you! Thanks to the support of A.S.C Purina, we recently welcomed two new team members: two beautiful baby Dutch rabbits, named Arthur and Léon!
As you know, the well-being of each and every one of our participants is very important to us, which is why the “Everyday Zootherapy” project was born. The many benefits of pet therapy have been proven and can include: improving quality of life on a daily basis, reducing stress and anxiety, boosting a person’s morale or interest, helping a participant open up to others, improving social participation, encouraging participation in fine motor activities by creating new games for the rabbits, encouraging “taking care of” and empowerment by meeting all the rabbits’ needs (feeding, hygiene, brushing, entertainment, etc.), and much more!
Rabbits can also help many people, whether they are autistic adults or parents of autistic children, during counselling sessions with our community counsellor, who is a zootherapist and graduate of the International School of Zootherapy in Montreal.
Arthur and Léon will bring enormous benefits to all the participants and people who benefit from our services, while providing a living environment adapted to their needs throughout their lives.
Don’t hesitate to follow our Facebook page to see their daily lives at Autisme Estrie: https: //www.facebook.com/AutismeEstrie/
A huge thank you to our sponsor A.S.C Purina (Liza Paré, Sylvie Proulx and Yannick Paré) for supporting us in this project, we are very grateful!
