Customized conferences

One of Autisme Estrie’s missions is to raise public awareness, which is why we are happy to offer conferences or training courses on request. We tailor the content of our conferences and training courses to your needs and target audience. Each conference/training session ends with a period of questions.

Here are two examples of conferences we give regularly:

Better understanding autism
A one-hour conference demystifying autism, we explain its definition and help people to better understand how autistic people receive and perceive information about their environment, and how to work with them to respect them as fully-fledged human beings. This conference can be given in any environment, simply to help people better understand autism and thus promote better integration of autistic people in our society.

Basic interventions for day-care environments (e.g. CPE, family day-care)
Training begins with a definition of autism, the particularities of this condition, how information is received and processed, hyper- and hyposensitivity, social interactions, the notion of empathy, and so on. Then we look at the importance of structuring and adapting the environment for the proper functioning of an autistic child. We present various tools and objects that can be used to facilitate the child’s daily life and integration, as well as basic techniques for working with an autistic child in a day-care setting.

We can also go into primary and secondary schools, CEGEPs and universities to give talks on autism, in particular to help students better understand their classmates who are autistic, and thus foster mutual support and integration of these students.

We also visit companies that have or would like to have autistic employees, to enable the team around them to understand the strengths and challenges of autistic people, and thus foster better integration of autistic people into the job market.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our conferences and training courses. We’ll be happy to discuss what we can do to meet your needs.
